01 — Context and process

OFF cerARTmic is an exhibition route that moves contemporary ceramics beyond the fair and integrates it into boutiques and spaces throughout Madrid. The initiative brings artworks to new audiences and proposes other relationships among object, architecture and everyday context.

Brenda Ranieri participated at Escala House with a selection connected to her research into the relationships among body, territory and memory. Her practice begins with local clays that she gathers and transforms into her own ceramic bodies, also incorporating recycled metals, urban remnants and natural elements. Through experimental glazes and firing processes that remain open to uncertainty, each work emerges from a dialogue between intention and material behaviour. Her practice is situated between the geological, the archaeological and the affective, understanding ceramics as a sensitive way of reading the environment.
